Editorial & non-endorsement policy

AV Elections exists to give voters accurate, equal information about every candidate on their ballot. These rules apply to everything published here.

Who gets listed. Every person who has been declared a candidate by the chief election officer of the jurisdiction, from the moment the official list is published. We do not list rumoured or intended candidacies. Withdrawn candidates stay listed with a Withdrawn label until voting day.

Equal treatment. Every candidate in a race gets the same fields, the same photo size and the same amount of space, listed alphabetically by surname. No candidate can pay for placement, and no candidate is ever featured above another.

Two kinds of text, always labelled. Background is written by us and contains only verifiable public facts — offices held, election results, occupation as stated in public records — with a source for each. Candidate statement is written by the candidate, published as submitted, and never edited except to remove unlawful content.

No endorsements, no opinion. We do not rate, rank, recommend or oppose any candidate, and we do not publish opinion pieces.

Photos. Every photo carries a credit and a licence. We use candidate-supplied photos with written permission, or photos released under a licence that permits reuse.

Corrections. Errors are corrected within 24 hours of verification and logged on the Corrections page.

Independence. We accept no money from candidates, elector organizations, parties or governments. Who runs the site is stated on the About page.
