When and where

Advance voting: Wednesday, October 7 and Wednesday, October 14, 2026 — 8 am to 8 pm — Echo Centre, Dogwood Room, 4255 Wallace Street.

General Voting Day: Saturday, October 17, 2026 — 8 am to 8 pm — Echo Centre, Cedar Room, 4255 Wallace Street.

Preliminary results are announced after polls close on October 17; the official declaration follows on October 19.

Who can vote

You can vote as a resident elector if you are a Canadian citizen, 18 or older on general voting day, have lived in BC for at least six months before voting day, live in this jurisdiction, and are not disqualified by law from voting.

Own property here but live elsewhere? You may vote as a non-resident property elector if you are a Canadian citizen, 18 or older, have lived in BC for six months, have owned the property for at least 30 days before voting day, and — if there are other owners — a majority of them sign a form designating you. One vote per property. Property held in a company name does not qualify.

Registration

If you are already on the provincial voters list you will be on the City's list. If not, you can register when you vote by completing the form and showing identification.

What ID to bring

Bring two pieces of identification. Both must show your identity and place of residence, and at least one must have your signature. Accepted: BC driver's licence, BC Services Card or BCID, BC care card, Social Insurance card, property tax notice, ICBC vehicle insurance documents, a utility bill, citizenship card, or a Certificate of Indian Status. A combined driver's licence and BC Services Card counts as one piece.

Vote by mail

Mail ballot requests open Monday, September 21, 2026. City of Port Alberni voters apply through letsconnectpa.ca/municipal-election or by contacting City Hall. Your completed ballot must be received by the close of voting on October 17.
